Day 18
Pray the seed of the Gospel will fall on good soil.

After the Soviet Union collapsed in 1991, many religious organizations were able to enter and engage in ministry.  During the 1990’s many people in Azerbaijan came to faith. There were reportedly thousands of Azeris and other minority groups that prayed to receive Christ. No doubt, that also included some Talysh. However, since that time many have fallen away. Jesus warned us about this in the parable of the sower. He said that unless the seed falls on good soil and develops strong roots, many will fall away because of trials and persecution; or the Word would be choked out by the cares of the world and the deceitfulness of riches.

Pray the Word of God will be sown on good soil that will bear much fruit.

Pray believers will grow deep roots and will remain faithful. Pray they will not fall away because of persecution, the cares of the world, or materialism.

Pray those who have denied Christ will be restored (like the Apostle Peter).

“When anyone hears the word of the kingdom and does not understand it, the evil one comes and snatches away what has been sown in his heart….or when one who hears the word and immediately receives it with joy, yet he has no root in himself, but endures for a while, and when tribulation or persecution arises on account of the word, immediately he falls away…or the one hears the word, but the cares of the world and the deceitfulness of riches choke the word and it proves unfruitful…As for what was sown on good soil, this is the one who hears the word and understands it. He indeed bears fruit and yields in one case a hundredfold, in another sixty, and in another thirty.” Matthew 13:18-23
