Traditional Pashtuns are extremely poor and live in the southern and eastern mountains where extended families dwell in tents or mud houses, usually with unsanitary conditions due to lack of a safe water source. In addition to poor water, their lack of good medical care and harsh war-torn lifestyle limits their life expectancy to about 46 years of age. A large number of adults are illiterate. Many depend on raising livestock, farming, and cultivating opium poppy for income. Some Pashtuns have moved into the urban areas and are educated, but many remain uneducated, especially the woman.
Pray the poor sanitary conditions plaguing the Pashtuns will improve.
Pray also for teachers to educate men and women, boys and girls.
Pray Pashtuns find an alternative to opium for providing money for their families.
Pray for access to good medical care and reliable sources of water. Pray they will hear about the Living Water that will quench their thirst and never make them thirsty again.
“But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness and all these things will be provided for you.” Matthew 6:33
